Combining two prayers is not permissible except for a valid legal excuse
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: In recent days, some of the imams of the mosques combined the Maghrib prayer with the 'Isha' prayer after a light rain fell that did not cause any hardship by its falling. What is the ruling, O honorable Shaykh? Is their prayer valid, or must the prayer be repeated?
A: Combining two prayers is not permissible except for a valid legal excuse, such as travel, illness, or rain that wets the clothes and causes some hardship, such as mud. As for one who combines the two 'Isha' prayers or the two 'Asr prayers without a valid legal excuse, that is not permissible, and he must repeat the prayer that he performed before its time. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 1718b It was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. Its origin is in the two Sahihs from the hadith of 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: Sahih Muslim 1718a.
And by this, it is known that it is obligatory for every Muslim to seek in all his acts of worship what conforms to the pure Shari'ah, and to beware of what contradicts that. May Allah guide all the Muslims to understanding in the religion and steadfastness upon it.
