Burying in Makkah is no different from burying elsewhere

Q: Does burying in Makkah differ from burying in any other country? And does it bring an increase in good deeds and ranks for the deceased?
A: Burying in Makkah is no different from burying elsewhere, for burial in all countries is the same: a grave is dug for the deceased to the depth of half a man’s height, a niche is made for him on the qiblah side, and he is placed on his right side. Then bricks are placed over him and the openings are sealed with clay, and earth is thrown over him, just as the Companions did with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Among this is the statement of Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) :Sahih Muslim 966 It was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih.
The Sunnah is for a person to be buried in his own land, and he is not to be transferred to Makkah or anywhere else, just as the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did. Some of them died in Kufah, some in Sham, some in Basrah, and some in other places. They were not transferred to Makkah or al-Madinah, nor did they bequeath that they be transferred .
The reason for this is that the basis for this matter is the deed, not the places. Also, transferring involves hardship without a religious cause that necessitates it. If transferring had been prescribed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would have bequeathed it, and if he had done so, the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would have transferred it and explained it, for they transmitted his Sunnah and clarified what Allah prescribed for His servants of his (peace and blessings be upon him) sayings, actions, and approvals. All good lies in following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) , as Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said: [Al-Mumtahanah: 6] And He (Mighty and Majestic) said: [At-Tawbah: 100] And success is from Allah.

There has certainly been for you in them an excellent pattern
لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِيهِمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌAnd the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment.
