Zakah on Salaries: A Detailed Explanation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: From 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz to the honorable brother / S. M. H. (may Allah preserve him). Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. After that:
I refer to your inquiry, registered with the Department of Scholarly Research and Ifta under number 2790, dated 8/9/1405 AH, in which you ask about the zakah on salaries.

A: The zakah on salaries in the form of currency is subject to detail:
If a lunar year has passed over them, they are in his possession, and they have reached the nisab, then zakah is due on them. However, if they are less than the nisab, or if a lunar year has not passed over them, but he spent them before that, then there is no zakah on them.
