The Walls of the Mosque, Praying for the Dead After Burial, and Zakat on Salaries
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: From 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz to the honorable brother S. M. H. (may Allah keep him safe). Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. After that:
I refer to your inquiry, registered with the Department of Scientific Research under number 2790 and dated 8/9/1405 AH, in which you ask about the walls of the mosque, about praying for the dead after burial in the cemetery, about zakat on salaries, and about traveling to console a person over a death.
A: I inform you that what is inside the wall of the mosque is part of the mosque, so it is not sold in, nor are lost items sought in it, and prayer is permissible in it.
As for traveling to console a Muslim over his death, there is no blame in it. Supplicating for the dead and seeking mercy for them in the Friday sermon is permissible, and praying for the dead after burial is permissible, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did so.
As for zakat on salaries in the form of money, there is a detail: if a lunar year has passed over it while it is in his possession and it has reached the minimum threshold, then zakat is due on it. But if it is less than the minimum threshold, or if a lunar year has not passed over it because he spent it before that, then there is no zakat on it.
May Allah guide everyone to what pleases Him; He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive. And peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
