Ruling on waiving a debt from one who is unable to pay and counting it as zakah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I am a merchant and I own real estate, including some residential apartments prepared for rent. Some tenants who are unable to fulfill their rental obligations due to their limited financial capacity come to me. Is it permissible for me to reduce the rent for them from the zakah I have? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.

A: You may not waive from your zakah the amount corresponding to the price reduction for them; because, given the situation described, you have not paid the zakah, but rather made it a subsidy for the owner. May Allah guide them all.
