The ruling on one who forgets to pay zakat al-fitr before the Eid prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I prepared zakat al-fitr before the Eid to give it to a poor person I know, but I forgot to pay it out and did not remember until the Eid prayer. I paid it out after the prayer. What is the ruling?
A: There is no doubt that it is obligatory to give zakat al-fitr before the festival prayer, as the noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded this. However, there is no blame on you for what you did, for giving it after the prayer is sufficient, and praise be to Allah. Although it is reported in the hadith that it is a charity among charities, that does not prevent it from being valid, and that it was given in its proper place. We hope that it will be accepted and that it will be a complete zakah, because you did not delay it intentionally, but rather you delayed it out of forgetfulness. And Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said in His great Book: [al-Baqarah:286], and it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says: , so He responded to the call of His believing servants regarding not being held accountable for forgetfulness and error.

Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred.
