The ruling on one who vowed to perform Hajj and died without performing it
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: If a person vows to perform Hajj and dies, and he leaves no estate, is making up the Hajj recommended or obligatory?
Answer: If it is facilitated by some of the heirs or others for someone to perform Hajj on his behalf, that is recommended, and the one who does it is rewarded. Otherwise, he owes nothing; for Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Taghabun: 16]. Just as with a debt, if they pay it off on his behalf, they have done well; otherwise, there is no blame on him if he left no estate.
