Ruling on hiring someone to perform Hajj on behalf of a deceased person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: May I ask, Your Eminence, is it permissible for me to hire someone to perform Hajj for my father? I have not yet performed the obligatory Hajj myself because I do not have a mahram (a relative one may not marry). Or, if that is not permissible, is it permissible for me to perform this act in the same year in which I will perform Hajj for myself, if Allah wills?

Answer: There is no blame on you for hiring someone to perform Hajj on behalf of your father, even if you have not performed Hajj for yourself. As for you, you may not perform Hajj on behalf of your father until you have performed Hajj for yourself. There is no objection to someone who has already performed Hajj for himself performing it on behalf of your father in the year in which you perform Hajj for yourself. And success is from Allah.
