Speaking about the greatness of the reliance upon Allah that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) possessed.

The Shaykh : And connected to the issue of Ibrahim (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) are two matters I would like to point out, even though they are not part of the lesson's topic.
The first matter: It is said that when Ibrahim was thrown into the fire, Jibril came to him and said to him: "Ask Allah, Mighty and Majestic, to save you from it." He said: "His knowledge of my condition is sufficient for me, so I do not need to ask." This is undoubtedly a false report, a lie. Do you doubt Allah's knowledge of their conditions? And do they not call upon Allah in times of hardship? Yes, they do. And if we were to say that Allah's knowledge of the condition is sufficient to dispense with asking, we would never need to ask at all, or would we?
The student: Yes.
The Shaykh : Because Allah is aware of their conditions in every state. So this statement is false, and it is obligatory for whoever hears it to point out its falsity. I only pointed it out because I heard a sermon delivered by Abd al-Hamid Kashk, in which he made this statement. So we must point out that this is a false statement that is not correct.
The second matter: They say that when Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, said to the fire of Ibrahim[Al-Anbya 21:69], all the fires in the world became cold, to the extent that those who were cooking their lunch and dinner that day did not... cook them, because the fire became like water; it did not cook the lunch or the dinner. This is also false, this is false without a doubt, the Qur'an refutes it, because Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Anbya 21:69]. And "al-Nar" (the fire) in the Arabic language is a specific indefinite noun, so it is like a proper noun; its ruling is the ruling of a proper noun in specifying its owner. For this reason, it is built with the damma in the vocative, just as a proper noun is. So what is meant by the fire to which Allah spoke?
The student: The fire of Ibrahim.
The Shaykh: The fire in which Ibrahim was thrown, the fire in which he was cast, that is the fire. It became coolness and peace for Ibrahim. As for the other fires, it is not possible for them to be coolness and peace for their people, because there is no connection between them and Ibrahim. And Allah said:[Al-Anbya 21:69], so He specified the fire being addressed. Then He said: , which is an additional specification. Do the fires under people's pots in every place touch Ibrahim, such that it is said to them: "Be coolness and peace upon him"?
The student: No.
The Shaykh : No. Someone might say: The fires, out of their intense exaltation of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and their awe of Him, thought that the address was directed to them, so they became cool. What do we say? We say: This is false and not correct, because when Allah, Mighty and Majestic, wills something, He says to it "Be," and it is. So the intention of Allah must be specific and defined. The fire that is not the fire of Ibrahim was not addressed with this command, so how can it depart from its nature? For this reason, some people—may Allah guide us and them—cling to such Isra'iliyyat (narrations from the People of the Book), promoting them to the common people, and this is an error. What is authentic in the Book of Allah and what is authentic from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is sufficient in explaining this. The verses of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, are sufficient.
I think the point of this verse is clear, and it is His saying? Huh?[Ali 'Imran 3:173] Yes.
... and the great miracle is a proof that refutes ... the naturalists who say that things happen by their natures, and that these natures which Allah the Exalted placed in these things are from the creation and formation of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and His will, Glorified and Exalted is He, and that these things do not happen by their own natures ... So this verse is among the greatest things that stamp their heads and their falsehood, and that all matters proceed according to the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing[Ya-Sin 36:39] [Ya-Sin 36:38], Glorified and Exalted is He, the Almighty who cannot be overcome, the All-Knowing who is not ignorant, [Ya-Sin 36:39] and Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, even the drop of rain that falls in its place, its time, its size, and its manner, all of it is by the decree and knowledge of Allah, Mighty and Majestic [Al-Hijr 15:21]. So everything is by the decree, knowledge, and will of Allah the Exalted. [Al-An'am 6:59] If He knows the falling leaves, then the created leaves that need formation are even more so. And Allah knows best.
The first matter: It is said that when Ibrahim was thrown into the fire, Jibril came to him and said to him: "Ask Allah, Mighty and Majestic, to save you from it."
