Explanation of the Author's Statement: The Chapter on What Came Regarding the Saying of Allah the Exalted: "And they did not estimate Allah as He should be estimated, and the earth all of it is in His hand on the Day of Resurrection"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, then the author said:"The chapter on what has come regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted:
They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him. وما قدروا الله حق قدره والأرض جميعا قبضته يوم القيامة والسماوات مطويات بيمينه سبحانه وتعالى عما يشركون
[Az-Zumar 39:67]
"
They did not estimate ما قدروا
To whom does the pronoun refer?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : No, my brother.
The student: The polytheists

The Shaykh : The polytheists.
they did not appraise Allah ما قدروا الله
[Al-An'am 6:91]
The pronoun refers to the polytheists, and
They estimated قدروا
means they magnified, meaning they did not magnify Allah, they did not magnify Allah as He should be magnified, because they associated with Him what was not among His creations, or it may have been among the smallest of His creations. There are people who worship cows, yes. And when we want to insult a person, we say to him, "O cow," yes. And they worship these cows. So did these people estimate Allah as He should be estimated?
The student: No.

The Shaykh : They did not estimate Allah as He should be estimated. Among them are those who worship trees, those who worship stones, those who worship private parts, those who worship the sun, and those who worship the moon. The point is, any person who worships other than Allah has not estimated Allah as He should be estimated, meaning he has not magnified Him as He should be magnified.
Now, he said:
the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection والأرض جميعا قبضته يوم القيامة
[Az-Zumar 39:67]
It is possible that the "waw" (and) is for the state, meaning they did not estimate Allah as He should be estimated in this state, or in the state that the earth all of it is in His hand. It is also possible that the "waw" is for a new statement, to explain the greatness of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And this is stronger in my view, meaning that Allah clarified that the earth all of it, the earth all of it, everything in it
In His hand قبضته
is in His hand. The "hand" (qabdah) is what is grasped in the hand, and the meaning of "hand" here is not dominion. Yes, if it said "and the earth is in His hand," that would be possible, but
The earth is in His hand الأرض قبضته
means what is grasped in the hand. And his saying:
all جميعاً
What is intended by "all of it"? Its seas, its rivers, its mountains, its trees, everything in it. The entire earth, all of it, is in His hand on the Day of Resurrection. Glory be to Allah the Great.
And the heavens والسماوات
In its greatness and its vastness.
Folded with His right hand مطويات بيمينه
Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it يوم نطوي السماء كطي السجل للكتب كما بدأنا أول خلق نعيدُه
[Al-Anbya 21:104]
These great heavens, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) folds them with His right hand, just as a person folds a scroll. Is it easy or difficult for a person to fold a scroll? It is easy. But Allah's folding of the heavens is easier.
and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him. والسماوات مطويات بيمينه سبحانه وتعالى عما يُشركون
[Az-Zumar 39:67]
Glory be to Him سبحانه
To purify Him from every defect and flaw, and from what these rivals purify Him from. Indeed, He (Glorified and Exalted is He) is purified from them. And his saying:
and He is Exalted وتعالى
We mentioned previously that "Taa'ala" (Exalted) is derived from "highness," but its form in this form, "Taa'ala," indicates highness along with purification and elevation above imperfections. Yes.
And Exalted is He (Glorified and Exalted is He) from what they associate وتعالى عما يُشركون
Meaning, from every shirk (associating partners with Allah) they associate with Him, whether they made the Creator like the created, or made the created like the Creator. He (Mighty and Majestic) is purified from partners, whether they elevated the created until they placed it in the position of the Creator, or lowered the Creator until they placed it in the position of the created. So Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is purified from that. And those who associate with Him in these two ways: a group exaggerated regarding the created until they placed it in the position of the Creator, and this is common. Others placed the Creator in the position of the created, like the actors who portray Allah with His creation. All of them are people of shirk. And in my opinion, regarding the grammatical analysis,
from what they associate with Him عما يشركون
not ما
is a relative noun, and the sentence is the relative clause. Where is the connector or the referent?
The student: It is omitted

The Shaykh : What is the implied meaning? "From what they associate with Him," from what they associate with Him, meaning they make it a partner with Allah. Can we say that this is evidence for the permissibility of omitting the referent? Yes, the one mentioned by the letter, even if it is not similar to the letter that governs the relative noun? Is it or is it not? Because we said "they associate with Him" and the one... from it, so it is evidence that it is permissible to omit the referent governed by a preposition, even if it is governed by a letter other than the letter that governed the relative noun. And this is a matter of scholarly disagreement, but the correct view is that it is permissible.
