The Shaykh : And his saying: [Al-An'am 6:125] This is a sign of [Al-An'am 6:125] meaning guidance and success - may Allah have mercy on you - [Al-An'am 6:125] If you recognize this in yourself, know that Allah intends good for you, because Allah says: [Al-An'am 6:125] As for the one who finds it a burden, and may Allah protect us from that, this is a sign that Allah intends evil for him and harm for him; otherwise, He would have expanded his chest. For this reason, you find that the prayer, which is the heaviest thing for the hypocrites, is the delight of the eyes of the sincere ones. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan an-Nasa'i 3940Hasan (Darussalam) Why? Because there is no doubt that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most perfect of people in faith. Yes, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most perfect of people in faith, so his chest was expanded by the prayer and it became the delight of his eyes. So you should compare yourself: if you see your chest expanding with the rituals of Islam, know that Allah intends good for you, because Allah says: [Al-An'am 6:125] If he is told, "This is lawful," he accepts it; if he is told, "This is forbidden," he accepts it; if he is told, "This is obligatory," he accepts it. But if he finds it a burden, it is a sign of evil. We ask Allah for well-being. For example, if he is told that it is obligatory for him to pray in congregation in the mosque, and he finds it a burden and feels distress in his soul, we say this is a sign of what? What is it a sign of, my brother? Are you with me or going? It is a sign of evil. But if he is told that it is obligatory for him to pray in congregation in the mosque, and his chest expands and he says, "Praise be to Allah who prescribed this for me; had Allah not prescribed it, it would have been an innovation," and he turns to it and is pleased with it, this is a sign that Allah intends to guide him.
He said:[Al-An'am 6:125] means to expand. From this is the saying of Moses (peace be upon him) when Allah sent him to Pharaoh: [Taha 20:25] meaning, expand my chest in addressing this man and calling him, because Pharaoh was a tyrant and stubborn, and may Allah protect us from that.
And his saying: Is the meaning of "Islam" here the foundation of Islam when it is presented to him while he is a disbeliever, or is it general for the foundation of Islam, its branches, and its obligations? It is general. The more a person's chest is open to Islam and its laws, the stronger the evidence that Allah intends to guide him.
