The Shaykh :"He is struck with a mallet" Who is struck? The one who did not respond, whether we say it is the disbeliever or the hypocrite, according to the disagreement among scholars.
"He is struck with a mallet" And the one who strikes him is the two angels who question him.
The mallet is an iron hammer, and it was reported in some narrations that if the people of Mina were to gather to lift it, they would not be able to do so. I seek refuge in Allah. Yes.
When he is struck, he lets out a scream that everything hears except humans, and if a human were to hear it, he would be stunned.
His statement: "He is struck and lets out a scream" Is it a scream that is heard or not? It is heard; everything around him that can hear a voice hears it. It is not everything, even those in the far corners of the world.
They hear it, and sometimes they are affected by it, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by the graves of the polytheists on his donkey, and it turned aside with him until it nearly threw him off, because it heard their voices as they were being punished, and I seek refuge in Allah.
And among the blessings of Allah upon us is that we do not hear this screaming for great reasons, among which are:
First: We might perish, because it is a deadly scream, a scream that causes hearts to fall from their hangings, and I seek refuge in Allah, so a person dies or is overcome.
Second: Hiding it is a covering for the deceased, is that right?
Third: It prevents disturbing his family, because if his family heard their deceased being punished and screaming, they would not find any peace.
Fourth: It also prevents humiliating his family, because people would say: This is your son! This is your father! This is your brother! This is your husband! and the like of that.
Fifth: What the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated by his statement:Sunan an-Nasa'i 2058Sahih (Darussalam), this is also the fifth.
Sixth: If people heard the screaming of these punished ones, belief in the punishment of the grave would be from the category of what? Belief in what is witnessed, not from the category of belief in the unseen, and at that time the benefit of the test would be lost, because people would certainly believe in what they witnessed, but if it is hidden from them and they do not know of it except through report, it becomes from the category of belief in the unseen.
So if you ask: Is this trial for the one who is buried, or does it include even the one who is thrown on the face of the earth, or the one eaten by wild beasts?
We say: It includes them, so the intended meaning of the grave here is the barzakh (the interval between death and resurrection) between the death of a person and the establishment of the Hour. Yes.

Were it not that you would not bury one another, I would have prayed to Allah to make you hear the torment of the grave.
