Explanation of the author's statement: On the types of knowledge and unveilings, and the types of power and effects.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, regarding karamah, he says: "On the types of knowledge and unveilings, and the types of power and effects", meaning that karamah is divided into two categories: one category relates to knowledge and unveilings, and another category relates to power and effects.
As for knowledge and unveilings, it is that a person obtains knowledge that others do not obtain.
And unveilings are that things are revealed to him that are not revealed to others.
An example of the first is what is mentioned regarding Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), that Allah showed him what was in the womb of his wife; Allah informed him that the fetus in his wife's womb was a female.
As for the second, unveilings: it is like what happened to the Commander of the Faithful, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), when he was preaching to the people on the pulpit on Friday. They heard him saying: "O Sariyyah, the mountain! O Sariyyah, the mountain!" They were amazed by this statement and then asked him about it. He said: It was revealed to him regarding Sariyyah ibn Zaynab—who was one of his commanders in Iraq—that he was besieged by his enemy. So 'Umar directed him to the mountain. 'Umar said to him: "O Sariyyah, the mountain!" Sariyyah heard 'Umar's voice, moved to the mountain, and fortified himself there.
This is among the matters of unveilings because it is a real event, but it was distant, so it was revealed to the Commander of the Faithful, 'Umar.
As for it being a sign for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as you know, in the Battle of Mu'tah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was speaking about the three commanders and said:
Zayd took it and was killed, and Ja'far took it and was killed, and 'Abdullah ibn Rawahah took it and was killed, and Khalid ibn al-Walid took it and Allah granted him victory. أخذها زيد فقتل وأخذها جعفر فقتل وأخذها عبد الله بن رواحة فقتل وأخذها خالد ابن الوليد ففتح الله عليه
or he said:
In his hand. على يده
What is this? It is from unveilings. The important thing is that karamah may be knowledge and unveilings, or it may be power and effects.
