Explanation of the words of Ibn Malik (may Allah have mercy on him): "And after min and 'an and the ba of Zayd, ma *** did not hinder from a work they had known"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
"And after min and 'an and the ba of Zayd, ma *** did not hinder from a work they had known"
"And after min," the word "after" is a preposition in the accusative case due to being a circumstantial preposition, and its operator is the word: "Zayd" Zayd. And the word: "min" after "min," is "after" being a noun and "min" being the noun it is attached to, considering its meaning and not its form?
The student: Its meaning.

The Shaykh : Considering its meaning? Considering its form. Its meaning is a preposition, and prepositions are not attached to. But considering its form, meaning "after" this word, which is "min," and "'an" is coordinated with "min," and "ba" is coordinated with "min," not with "'an," because coordination is with the first one. "Zayd" is a past tense verb built for the active voice. "Ma" is the subject, built on sukun in the position of nominative. Its meaning is "in." "Zayd" is a past tense verb built for the active voice.
The student: For the passive voice.

The Shaykh : I say "Zayd" in Arabic, leave "ma." "Zayd" is a past tense verb built for the active voice.
The student: For the passive voice.

The Shaykh : What error? Built for the passive voice. I said it is built for the active voice, and you did not object. You did not say anything. Do not leave me. In this situation, do not leave me. Yes, good. And "ma" is the substitute for the subject, built on sukun in the position of nominative. "So it did not hinder" meaning this addition, or the entry of "ma." "So it did not hinder from a work they had known" meaning "ma" is not an obstacle to the work. The extra "ma" entered upon them and did not hinder them from the work. And the meaning is that "ma" is added after "'an," and what comes after?
The student: And "min."

The Shaykh : And "min."
The student: And "ba."

The Shaykh : And "ba." "Ma" is added and does not invalidate the work. The work remains as it is. An example is what Allah the Exalted said:
Because of their sins they were drowned مِمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا
[Nuh 71:25]
Because of their sins مِمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ
Look, "min" is a preposition, and "ma" is extra.
Their sins خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ
Sins: a noun in the genitive case by "min," a noun in the genitive case by "min," and the sign of its genitive is an explicit kasrah at its end. Did the work of "min" become invalid because of "ma"?
The student: No.

The Shaykh : No, it did not become invalid. Good. And you say: "From what he did, I am punished," meaning: "From his deed, I am punished," meaning: because of it. And so with "'an." After "'an," "ma" is added, and its work remains. Allah the Exalted said:
[Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ لَيُصْبِحُنَّ نَادِمِينَ
[Al-Mu'minun 23:40]
[Allah] said, "After a little قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ
[Al-Mu'minun 23:40]
Did the work of "'an" become invalid or not? It did not become invalid. So we say:
In a little while عما قليل
"'an" is a preposition, and "ma" is extra, and "little" is a noun in the genitive case by "'an," and the sign of its genitive is an explicit kasrah at its end. So here, the work did not change. Is "their sins" a definite or an indefinite noun?
The student: Definite.

The Shaykh : Definite. And "little"
In a little while عما قليل
?
The student: Indefinite.

The Shaykh : Indefinite. So there is no difference between the genitive noun being definite or indefinite. The work remains, whether a definite noun is made genitive as in His saying:
Because of their sins مِمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ
, or an indefinite noun as in His saying:
In a little while عَمَّا قَلِيلٍ
. Likewise, after "ba," "ma" is added and its work remains. Allah the Exalted said:
So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. فَبِمَا رَحْمَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ لِنْتَ لَهُمْ
[Ali 'Imran 3:159]
So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. فَبِمَا رَحْمَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ لِنْتَ لَهُمْ
[Ali 'Imran 3:159]
"By what mercy." "Ba" is a preposition, and "ma" is extra, and "mercy" is a noun in the genitive case by "ba," and the sign of its genitive is an explicit kasrah at its end. Now, when the extra "ma" came, did the work of "ba" become invalid?
The student: No.

The Shaykh : Its work did not become invalid. So it is clear that the rule is now as follows: "Ma" is added after "'an," "min," and "ba," so the work is not invalidated by this addition. The work remains as it is.
