The Hajj of one who abandons prayer is not valid

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: What is the ruling on one who performs Hajj while abandoning prayer, whether intentionally or out of negligence? Does it count as the Hajj of Islam?

Answer: If one performs Hajj while abandoning prayer, and if he does so by denying its obligation, he is a disbeliever by scholarly consensus, and his Hajj is not valid. As for if he abandons it out of laxity and negligence, there is disagreement among the scholars on this; some hold that his Hajj is valid, while others do not hold it to be valid. The correct view is that his Hajj is not valid either; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.العهد الذي بيننا وبينهم الصلاة فمن تركها فقد كفر
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Between man and polytheism and unbelief is the abandonment of salat.بين الرجل وبين الشرك والكفر ترك الصلاة
Sahih Muslim 82b
. This encompasses the one who denies its obligation and the one who abandons it out of negligence. And success is from Allah.
