Ruling on leaving 'Arafah before the setting of the sun

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: His Eminence, Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him).
Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings, and after that:
We are doctors from some Islamic countries who came to work in Makkah al-Mukarramah during the Hajj period, and we intended to perform Hajj and 'Umrah as tamattu'. We performed the 'Umrah, but work circumstances prevent us from standing at 'Arafah for part of the night, and we must return to our workplace before the sun sets. What is obligatory for us to do? We know that Hajj is 'Arafah, and it may not be possible for us to perform Hajj with 'Umrah again, knowing that I have already performed the obligatory Hajj. And what is upon us if we remove our ihram clothes before the first tahallul and throw the Jamrat al-'Aqabah, where ihram clothes are not permitted at work? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer: And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
Whoever stands at 'Arafah during the day must continue until the night. If he does not do so and departs before sunset and does not return after sunset, he must offer a sacrificial animal. If he returns after Maghrib and stands at night on the night of al-Nahr, but did not stand during the day, he owes nothing.
As for removing the ihram clothes before the first tahallul, it is not permissible except for dire necessity or a valid legal excuse. Once you remove them and wear sewn clothing, such as a shirt, you owe a discretionary expiation, which is: fasting for three days, or slaughtering a sheep, or feeding six poor people, with each poor person receiving half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the local staple food, which is approximately one and a half kilograms. Likewise, if you cover your head with a turban or the like, the aforementioned expiation applies. May Allah guide them all. Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
