Rubbing against the Maqam or the walls of the Ka'bah is not permissible

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I have seen people rubbing against the Maqam and kissing it, and rubbing against the edges of the Ka'bah. Please clarify the ruling on this?

Answer: Rubbing against the Maqam, or the walls of the Ka'bah, or the covering (kiswah), all of this is not permissible and has no basis in the Shari'ah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do it; rather, he kissed the Black Stone and touched it, and he touched the walls of the Ka'bah from the inside. When he entered the Ka'bah, he pressed his chest, his arms, and his cheek against its wall, and he said takbir in its corners and made du'a. As for outside, he did not do any of this according to what is established from him. It is also narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he embraced the Multazam between the corner and the door, but this is a weak narration. Only some of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did that. So whoever does it, there is no blame on him, and the Multazam is permissible. Likewise, kissing the Black Stone is a recommended practice (sunnah).
As for clinging to the covering of the Ka'bah or its walls, or sticking to them, all of this has no basis and should not be done, because it was not transmitted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or from the Companions . Likewise, rubbing against the Maqam of Ibrahim or kissing it, all of this has no basis and is not permissible to do, because it is among the religious innovations (bid'ah) that people have introduced.
As for asking the Ka'bah, making du'a to it, or seeking blessing from it, this is major shirk (associating partners with Allah) and is not permissible. It is worship of other than Allah. So the one who asks the Ka'bah to cure his sick person, or rubs against the Maqam hoping for a cure from it, this is not permissible. Rather, it is major shirk (associating partners with Allah) — we ask Allah for safety.
