Rubbing against the Noble Grave
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 17457 )
Q1: What is the ruling on rubbing against the walls and iron bars when visiting the grave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ?
A1 : What is prescribed when visiting the grave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is to greet him and his two companions, as the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) used to do, and likewise those who came after them from the Tabi'un and the rest of the blessed centuries, and those who followed their path from the imams of guidance. As for rubbing against the walls of the chamber and the iron bars of the windows, this is not the practice of the Muslims; it is a religious innovation (bid'ah) and a means of shirk (associating partners with Allah). Therefore, it is obligatory to abandon it, prohibit it, and warn against it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
