Circumambulation from inside the Hajar Isma'il is invalid

Question: A man performed tawaf from inside the Hajar Isma'il, performed sa'y, and exited the state of ihram. Then he went to his house and had intercourse with his wife. Is there any sin on him for that?

Answer: This 'Umrah is defective; because his tawaf was not valid, he must repeat the tawaf and sa'y and shorten his hair. He must also offer a sheep as a sacrifice in Makkah for having intercourse with his wife before completing his 'Umrah, because his tawaf from inside the Hajar is not valid. He must perform tawaf from behind the Hajar, and by doing so, his defective 'Umrah is completed. Then he must perform another valid 'Umrah in its place from the miqat from which he entered ihram for the first one. This is what is obligatory for him due to the invalidity of his first 'Umrah caused by intercourse.
