Question:
What is the ruling on selling a commodity to a customer, and after he agrees to its price, I bring it from a second shop, and I am certain of my profit?
Guide us, may Allah reward you with good. His message has been sent, saying: I love you for the sake of Allah.
Answer:
As for love for the sake of Allah, we say: May Allah love you, for the sake of Whom you loved us. Thus, mutual love for the sake of Allah is among the best of the means of drawing near to Him; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 1423, meaning: out of fear of Allah.
All of these will be shaded by Allah in His shade on a Day when there is no shade except His, and among them are those who love one another for the sake of Allah. And He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 2566. May Allah make us and you and all our brothers among those who love one another for His sake .
As for selling commodities before you have bought them, it is not permissible; for it is not permissible for a person to sell what he does not have; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):. And Hakim ibn Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him, saying: O Messenger of Allah, a man comes to me wanting a commodity that I do not have, so I sell it to him, then I go and buy it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 2187Hasan (Darussalam).
So if you want to sell, you buy the commodity first. Once you have taken possession of it, secured it, and it is with you, you sell it thereafter. You say to the one who has expressed interest in it: Wait until I buy it. Once you have bought the commodity and it is with you, in your possession, and you have taken possession of it, you sell it to whomever you wish.

Seven people will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His. They are: (1) a just ruler; (2) a young man who has been brought up in the worship of Allah, (i.e. worship Allah (Alone) sincerely from his childhood), (3) a man whose heart is attached to the mosque (who offers the five compulsory congregational prayers in the mosque); (4) two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only; (5) a man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for an illegal sexual intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah; (6) a person who practices charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity). (7) a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes get flooded with tears.
All of these will be shaded by Allah in His shade on a Day when there is no shade except His, and among them are those who love one another for the sake of Allah. And He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah would say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who have mutual love for My Glory's sake? Today I shall shelter them in My shadow when there is no other shadow but the shadow of Mine.
