Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
It has been mentioned to us in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
There are seven whom Allah will shade in His shade on the day on which there is no shade except His shade: a just imam
Muwatta Malik 51:14
The meaning of his statement "a just ruler" has already been explained. As for the second, he said:
A young man who grew up in the obedience of Allah
He is also one of those whom Allah will shade in His Shade on a day when there is no shade except His Shade, because he has no youthful impulsiveness. It is common for young people to have impulsiveness, inclination, and deviation, but if this young man grew up in obedience to Allah and had no inclination or deviation and continued in this, then Allah the Exalted will shade him in His Shade on a day when there is no shade except His Shade. The third:
two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only
Sahih al-Bukhari 660
So he saw him in this state and loved him. They met for that sake and parted for that sake: this means they met in this world and remained [in that state] until they died, parting in that state. These two are also among those whom Allah will shade in His Shade on a day when there is no shade except His Shade.
And a man whose heart is attached to the mosques
So mosques are places of prostration, whether they are built for prayer in them or not. The important thing is that he always desires prayer, his heart is attached to it, and whenever he finishes a prayer, he looks forward to the next prayer. This indicates the strength of his connection to Allah Mighty and Majestic, because prayer is a connection between the servant and his Lord. So if a person loves it and is accustomed to it, this means that he loves the connection between him and Allah, and he will be among those whom Allah will shade in His Shade on a day when there is no shade except His Shade.
a man who is called by a charming lady of noble birth
Sahih al-Bukhari 6806
: This means she invited him to himself to commit fornication with her, but he was strong in chastity and pure in honor. He said:
I fear Allah.
: So he is a man with desire, and the invitation to which this woman invited him necessitates that he act, because she is the one who sought him, and the place is empty with no one in it, but the fear of Allah Mighty and Majestic prevented him from that. He said:
I fear Allah
, he did not say: "I fear that someone will see us," and he did not say: "He has no desire for intercourse," but he said: "I fear Allah," so Allah will shade him in His Shade on a day when there is no shade except His Shade due to the perfection of his chastity.
a person who practices charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given
Sahih al-Bukhari 1423
: He gave charity with sincere intention for the sake of Allah Mighty and Majestic, to the extent that if someone had been on his left, he would not have known about it due to the intensity of the concealment. So this is perfection of sincerity for him, and Allah will shade him in His Shade on a day when there is no shade except His Shade. And this is as long as there is no benefit and good in displaying the charity. If there is benefit and good in displaying the charity, then displaying it is better. But if there is no benefit, then concealing it is better.
And the seventh:
and a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes are then flooded with tears
Sahih al-Bukhari 660
These are the seven whom Allah will shade in His Shade on a day when there is no shade except His Shade. Two or more of these characteristics may be found in one person, and it may be that a person has only one characteristic, and that is sufficient.
