The ruling on earning from a falsified certificate

Question: A man works with an academic certificate, and he cheated in the exams for this certificate. He is now performing well in his job in the eyes of his subordinates. What is the ruling on his salary? Is it lawful or forbidden?

Answer: There is no harm, if Allah wills. He must repent to Allah for the cheating that occurred. If he is performing his work as it should be, there is no harm regarding his earnings; however, he erred in the previous cheating, and he must repent to Allah for that.
