The ruling on taking a wage for forbidden work

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Are the salaries received by bank employees in general lawful or forbidden? I have heard that they are forbidden because banks deal in riba (usury or interest). I ask for your guidance, as I wish to work in one of the banks?

Answer: It is not permissible to work in banks that deal in riba (usury or interest), because doing so constitutes assisting in sin and transgression. Allah the Exalted said: :
And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
[Surah al-Ma'idah: 2]. And it is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) cursed the accepter of interest and its payer, and one who records it, and the two witnesses, and he said: They are all equal.
