The Prohibition of Working in Interest-Based Banks

Question:
What is the ruling on working in interest-based banks and taking a salary from them? Many people are currently working for them, either out of ignorance of the situation or with knowledge of it. Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Working in interest-based banks is an evil and is not permissible. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who gives it, the scribe, and the two witnesses, and he said: Working in banks, whether in those dealing in riba or in others, if it involves riba, is not permissible. Riba is not permissible, nor is assisting in it, whether as a scribe, an accountant, or in any other capacity. May Allah be our helper.
