The Ruling on Working in Banks

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 2608 )
Q2: Is it permissible for a person to work in a bank that deals in riba (usury or interest), even if he does not perform any riba (usury or interest)-based work in the bank, but the bank’s total income is riba (usury or interest)?
A2: It is not permissible for a Muslim to work in a bank that deals in riba (usury or interest), even if the work that Muslim performs in the bank is not riba (usury or interest)-based; because he provides his colleagues who work in riba (usury or interest) with what they need and use to assist in their riba (usury or interest)-based work. And Allah the Exalted said:
but do not cooperate in sin and aggressionوَلاَ تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
