The Ruling on One Who Did Not Complete the Farewell Tawaf and Sa'y
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: To His Eminence the Shaykh / Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz, the Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
My question is: My father came from Egypt to perform the obligatory Hajj, but he did not complete the Farewell Tawaf, the Sa'y, and the Farewell Tawaf due to his severe illness, the heavy crowds, and his physical weakness.
First: Is his Hajj valid or not?
Second: What should I do for him? I am his son, and I work in the Kingdom.
Third: What is required of him if he has had intercourse with his wife? Does he have to stop having intercourse with his wife or not?
Fourth: If his presence is absolutely necessary, is it possible to postpone his presence until Ramadan to perform 'Umrah and fulfill what is required of him from the Hajj?
Please advise us, may Allah reward you with all good for the Muslims, and may peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you.
Answer: And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, after that:
Your father must attend immediately, to the best of his ability, to perform the Tawaf and the Sa'y. He must avoid his wife until he performs the Tawaf and the Sa'y. If he has had intercourse with her, he must offer a sacrificial animal, equivalent to the 'Id sacrifice, to be slaughtered in Makkah and distributed among the poor, along with repentance, regret, and a commitment not to return to intercourse with her until he performs the Tawaf and the Sa'y. His Hajj is valid. You should help him in this, to the best of your ability. May Allah bless you. And may peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you.
