Fatwa number ( 20342 )
Q: I am informing you that in one of the years, I went to perform the obligatory Hajj, and on the tenth day of Dhul-Hijjah, I stoned the Pillar of Aqabah and went to the Haram to perform the Tawaf of Ifadah. Due to the heavy crowd, I performed the Tawaf on the rooftops of the Haram , and in the middle of the fourth circuit, I suffered an internal skin tear, so I was unable to complete the seven circuits , and some of the
pilgrims told me that if I postponed it to the Farewell Tawaf, it would suffice for that. I returned to Mina , and on the twelfth day, I stoned the pillars at twelve noon due to the crowd. After that, I went to the Haram to perform the Farewell Tawaf, but I did not complete the seven circuits fully; rather, I performed three circuits to complete the previous four. What is your opinion, is my Hajj valid or not? Please issue a ruling on this?

A: If the matter is as you mentioned, then the Tawaf is not valid. You must return to Makkah and perform the Tawaf of Ifadah, and perform Sa'y if you were in Tamattu' in your mentioned Hajj, and perform the Farewell Tawaf if you did not travel immediately after the Tawaf of Ifadah. If you were in Qiran or Ifrad in your Hajj, and you had already performed Sa'y after the Tawaf of Arrival, then you do not have to perform Sa'y; otherwise, you perform Sa'y after the Tawaf of Ifadah, and then perform the Farewell Tawaf if you delayed traveling after the Tawaf of Ifadah and Sa'y. If you engaged in sexual intercourse during the period between your Hajj and your performance of the Tawaf of Ifadah and Sa'y (if Sa'y was required of you), then you must slaughter a sheep that is acceptable as an 'Id sacrifice, to be distributed among the poor of Makkah in the Haram ; because you did not complete the second state of release. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
