The Ruling on Frozen Chicken

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: What is the ruling on imported meats, as well as frozen chicken, regarding which we do not know how they were slaughtered, given that some scholars do not endorse purchasing them?

Answer: If the aforementioned meats are imported from the lands of the People of the Book, it is permissible to eat them, unless you know something that indicates their prohibition; based on the statement of Allah (Mighty and Majestic): :
This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for themالْيَوْمَ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ وَطَعَامُ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْكِتَابَ حِلٌّ لَّكُمْ وَطَعَامُكُمْ حِلُّ لَّهُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:5]
the verse. [Al-Ma'idah: 5].
The fact that some slaughterhouses in some lands of the People of the Book slaughter in a manner that is not in accordance with the Shari'ah does not necessitate the prohibition of imported slaughters from the lands of the People of the Book, until you know that that specific slaughter is from the slaughterhouse that slaughters in a manner that is not in accordance with the Shari'ah; because the original ruling is permissibility and safety, until you know what necessitates the contrary.
