Ruling on Eating Imported Meats and Chicken

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Regarding imported meat and chicken, there is a scholar who appeared on television saying that it is permissible, meaning, is it true that it is permissible to eat it, given that it came from abroad?

Answer:
All these items that come to the Kingdom from the lands of the Christians are lawful by default; because Allah has permitted us the slaughter of the People of the Book. So, what comes from the lands of the People of the Book, from France, from London, from such and such, from the lands of the Christians; the default ruling is that it is lawful, until it is known that this specific item was slaughtered in a manner contrary to the Shari'ah. Otherwise, the default ruling is that it is lawful.
As for what comes from the lands of the communists and the polytheists, the default ruling is that it is forbidden, until it is known that Muslims who slaughtered it did so according to the Shari'ah, or that it was slaughtered by the People of the Book. It is necessary to distinguish between these cases. The Ministry of Commerce is concerned with this matter and strives to ensure it. We ask Allah to grant them success. Indeed, slaughtering practices differ, and people differ in this regard. If a person is scrupulous about something and prefers to buy for himself and slaughter for himself, that is a different matter.
