The ruling on exaggerating in washing the hands during ablution

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on Abu Hurayrah’s (exaggeration in washing the hands) if one of them did it?

Answer:
What appears to me is that it is a religious innovation; because a thing that has no basis, the fact that a Companion exerted his judgment... does not constitute a proof, such as Ibn 'Umar’s action in taking what exceeded a handful from the beard, and Ibn 'Umar’s action in washing his eyes,
And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messengerفَإِنْ تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ
[Al-Nisa:59], this is general, except for what came from the Rightly Guided Caliphs, which is from the Sunnah if it does not contradict an explicit, authentic Sunnah.
