Continuation of the explanation of the author's statement: "And whatever is cut from a living creature is like its carrion."

The Shaykh : In the school of thought, it is stated that bone is pure; the bone of a carrion is pure. Evidence is cited for this by saying that although bone feels pain and senses, it does not possess complete life, and blood does not flow through it as it does through other parts. That is, bone has no movement except through something else; bone does not move except by means of something else. Therefore, it is not like the rest of the body; it resembles the nail and hair and similar things. It is said that the criterion for purification and impurity is blood. Therefore, that which does not have flowing blood is pure; it is considered pure. However, what appears to be the correct view in this issue is that it distinguishes between this and that which has no flowing blood. That which has no flowing blood is an independent animal, but this becomes impure by association with something else. And if it feels pain, it is not like the nail, nor is it like the hair. Furthermore, the fact that it contains no blood is a matter to be examined: is it confirmed that there is no blood in it, or is there blood in it? Because some bones are felt to contain blood; sometimes the bone is red. This is a matter to be looked into and referred to medicine. However, if we take the general rule, [Al-An'am 6:145] it is more cautious and better. The author said: "And whatever is cut from a living creature is like its carrion". We have also explained this. So, whatever is cut from a living creature is like its carrion, and we have also discussed it. So, what is cut from a living creature is like the carrion of that living creature. If it is cut from a human being, what do you say? It is pure, because the carrion of a human being is pure. If it is cut from a camel, it is impure, because the carrion of a camel is impure. If it is cut from a fish, it is pure, because the carrion of a fish is pure. If it is cut from a locust, it is pure, because its carrion is pure. So, that is correct. The scholars have excluded two issues from this. The first issue is the hunted animal (al-taridah), and the second issue is musk and the musk pod. Musk and its pod. This is what they say: that musk is part of the blood of the gazelle. There are known gazelles called the musk gazelle. They are made to run until they are exhausted, and then blood comes out from near their navel. When this blood comes out, they tie it with a strong, tight binding until its connection to the blood is severed. Then, in the end, this drops off. This drops off. This that they tied. Did you visualize it? Good, or did you not visualize it? I think the brothers did not visualize it. There is a type of gazelle called the musk gazelle. They say that when they want to extract the musk from it, they make it run, they let it run, they tire it out, and blood comes out from near its navel. Then they take a strong, powerful thread and tie this blood that has come out. They tie it tightly so that it does not connect to the body and be nourished by the blood. If it is left for a period, of course, it falls off because it dries up and falls. When it falls, this is found to be musk. This blood that has coagulated with the skin becomes musk. It is musk of the most pleasant scent. Musk of the most pleasant musk scent. Yes. From inside the skin. This container is called the musk pod, and the musk is what is inside it. Did this separate from a living creature or not? It separated from a living creature. And it is pure by the consensus of the scholars on its purity, or by the opinion of the majority of the scholars. For this reason, al-Mutanabbi says: "If the people perish and you are among them, *** Then musk is part of the blood of the gazelle". This musk and its pod, although it is separated from a gazelle, and the carrion of the gazelle is impure, but this is an exception. The second issue that is an exception to this general rule is the hunted animal (al-taridah). Al-taridah means the hunted one, and it is the game that a group chases but cannot catch, so they slaughter it. But they strike it with their swords or daggers, one man strikes it. So, this one cuts off its hand, and this one cuts off its leg, and this one cuts off its head, and this one cuts open its belly until it dies. This is called al-taridah, meaning the hunted one. There is no evidence from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding this, except that the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) used to do that. Imam Ahmad said: They used to do that in their military expeditions and did not see any harm in it. And the wisdom in this, may Allah know best, is that this hunted animal cannot be slaughtered properly; it cannot be slaughtered properly. And if it cannot be slaughtered properly, then it becomes lawful by being killed in any part of its body. Did you understand? The game, if you shoot it in any place and it dies, it is lawful. This is the same thing, except that this was cut before it died. Imam Ahmad said: If it remains, meaning we cut off its leg but it escaped and we did not catch it, then its leg at that time would be forbidden and impure, because we did not catch it, and it was not game at that time. So it would be forbidden. It would be forbidden. So, the rule is: whatever is cut from a living creature is like its carrion. And what is excluded from it are two issues: the first is the hunted animal (al-taridah), and the second is musk and the musk pod. Yes.
