Explanation of the author's statement: "and carrion"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
He said "and carrion". This is a conjunction to his statement "except the dog". That is, he (may Allah have mercy on him) intends to clarify what is forbidden to sell from among tangible items, so he mentioned the dog, insects, the mushaf, and carrion. Now, regarding insects, we excluded those from which benefit can be derived, and we gave as an example what? Leeches for sucking blood, and worms for catching fish. Now.
He says "and carrion". Carrion is not valid to sell, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
Indeed, Allah has forbidden the sale of carrion إن الله حرّم بيع الميتة
Indeed, Allah has forbiddenإن الله حرّم
. He attributed the prohibition to Allah to emphasize it, because attributing something to the King of Kings means cutting off any dispute regarding it and that no one can contest it. So Allah (Mighty and Majestic) forbade the sale of carrion.
The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), who were eager for knowledge, posed a question to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and they said: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about the fat of carrion? It is used to coat ships, to grease skins, and people use it for lighting." Ships are made of wood and are coated with fat to provide a lubricant that causes water to slide off and not enter the wood, because if it entered the wood, it would make them heavy. Skins are greased with it to make them soft, because when skin is greased, it becomes supple. And people use it for lighting; how? They make it into lamps. In the past, people used grease in the place of what? Petroleum, gas. Now, they would put it in a container, place a wick in it, and light the tip of the wick, and then it would be illuminated. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
No, it is forbidden لا، هو حرام
. The scholars differed regarding his statement
No, it is forbidden لا، هو حرام
. What is it? It was said that it refers to the sale, because that is the subject of the discussion and what is being talked about.
Allah has forbidden the sale of wine إن الله حرّم بيع الخمر
Sunan Abi Dawud 3486Sahih (Al-Albani)
The Companions only mentioned the benefit derived from it to justify the permissibility of selling it and to clarify that these benefits should not be wasted; it should be sold. So he said: No, it is forbidden. That is, the sale is forbidden. This is the correct opinion: that the pronoun in his statement
It is forbidden هو حرام
refers to the sale, even with these benefits enumerated by the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). This is because the context of the discussion is about the sale. It was also said that "it is forbidden" means that benefiting from it in these ways is forbidden, so it is not permissible to coat ships with it, nor to grease skins with it, nor for people to use it for lighting. However, this opinion is weak, and the correct one is that it is permissible to coat ships with it, grease skins with it, and for people to use it for lighting.
