It is recommended to marry one woman

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he said "It is recommended to marry one woman" The author (may Allah have mercy on him) moved from explaining the ruling on marriage to explaining who one should marry, who is it recommended to marry? In what manner and how? As for the quantity, he said "It is recommended to marry one woman" meaning that one should restrict oneself to one and not marry more, because marrying more exposes him to things he may not be able to handle. He may be unjust between the two wives, or he may be preoccupied with seeking a livelihood for them, or problems may arise between the two wives that tire him and spoil his life. One wife is safer for him and for her, so he said it is recommended to restrict oneself to one. This is one of the two opinions on the issue. The second opinion is that plural marriage is better, but on the condition that he has financial capacity, physical capacity, and the capacity to judge between them with justice. If he does not have financial capacity, it is not recommended for him to marry, because he will add burdens to himself that he is in no need of. What is the second? Physical capacity. If he is weak, how can he marry a second wife? If he marries a second wife, he must neglect one of them, because he does not have the capacity such that if he visits one, he remains for four or five days without his strength. So we cannot say it is recommended for you to marry, because you will remain a burden on your family.
The third is the capacity to judge, meaning that he is capable of being just, but to the extent he is able. And to this points the saying of Allah the Exalted
But if you fear that you will not be just فإن خفتم ألا تعدلوا
[An-Nisa 4:3]
What is it?
one فواحدة
meaning then marry one
those your right hand possesses أو ما ملكت أيمانكم
[An-Nisa 4:3]
meaning from the slave women. And on this basis, we say that the second opinion is more correct than the first, because the benefits of marriage exist in the second marriage if the obstacles are removed. The benefits will be present: it will protect the woman’s chastity, secondly, providing for her maintenance, reducing the number of unmarried women, increasing offspring, and other benefits. If the three conditions are met, the correct view is that plural marriage is recommended. Yes, is that clear? The rest of the discussion on this will come, if Allah wills. Yes?
