The Lawfulness of Marriage and Its Conditions.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own souls and from the badness of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can mislead, and whomsoever He leaves astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family and his Companions and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment).
As for what follows: On the occasion of the summer vacation and the many marriage contracts that take place during it, I wished for the topic of this meeting to be: speaking about marriage and what is related to it.
So I say: First: Marriage is desirable for a human being by virtue of fitrah (the innate natural disposition) and nature. Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, made it desirable for humans by virtue of their fitrah and nature in order for the human lineage to remain, because if it were not for this fitrah and nature that urges a person toward marriage, a person would not have exposed his 'awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) before a woman who was a stranger to him, nor would he have practiced this act. But Allah, the Exalted, placed in humans a natural fitrah that urges them toward this marriage. And it is also one of the sunan (recommended practices) of the messengers. Indeed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married and said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 3939Hasan (Darussalam). When some of the Companions wanted to leave marriage as an act of worship to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, by abandoning it, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed them and disapproved of that. He said: . So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disavowed those who left marriage out of chastity and monasticism. And he said: Sahih Muslim 1401. For this reason, the scholars agreed that marriage is prescribed (mashru') and that it is an act of worship. But they differed on whether it is obligatory for a person who has desire? There are two opinions. And the correct one is that it is obligatory for a young man with desire, if he is able, that he must marry, and it is forbidden for him to delay it for the sake of study or trade or anything else. As long as he has desire and is able, he must marry. The evidence for that is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sahih al-Bukhari 1905. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the young men who are able to marry to marry. And he explained the great benefit of it, which is that it is a guard for the eyes and a protection for the private parts. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only mentioned these two benefits, although there are many benefits in it, because these two benefits are the quickest for a person. As soon as a person marries, he restrains his gaze from women and protects his private parts. Whoever cannot do so, let him fast, he fasts, because fasting is an act of worship. And he is fasting during the day, restrained, heedless of what is related to women. And at night he is sleeping. Then, fasting weakens the flow of blood. And Satan flows through the son of Adam as blood flows. So when the flow weakens, the paths of Satan weaken. And that becomes closer to safety. But if a young man cannot fast, cannot marry, and cannot fast, what does he do? He does what Allah commanded in His saying: [An-Nur 24:33]. He should be chaste, he should be patient, for whoever is patient, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will make him patient. And if a person is chaste and restrained from what Allah has forbidden, he falls under the saying of Allah, the Exalted: [At-Talaq 65:4].
