Discussion of defects in marriage.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
We have previously stated that there is disagreement regarding defects in marriage as to whether they are enumerated or limited, and what is the correct position?

The questioner : They are limited.

The Shaykh : That they are limited, and that their limit is anything that repels one spouse from the other and prevents the [completion of the act], whereas according to the school of thought, they are enumerated, and anything beyond that is not a defect, even if it is more repulsive than them. We have previously mentioned in the first chapter what pertains to the man, which is that he is unable to have intercourse, whether that is due to his original constitution or if it occurred afterwards, and that is one of the defects.
