Do we affirm the attribute of hurrah (running) for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) as it appears in the Hadith Qudsi, in a manner befitting His Majesty, or is it interpreted figuratively as some scholars say?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : What is it?

The questioner : No, I will tell our brother, wait a moment for his question.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : You asked me before the same question I want to mention now, which is the issue of the Hadith Qudsi regarding the Lord of Majesty (Blessed and Exalted is He):
And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him in a hurry. وإن أتاني يمشي أتيتُه هرولةً
Sunan Ibn Majah 3822Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : I was in a hurry and had some points I wanted to mention, but time did not allow us! So now I will say.

The Shaykh : When did you ask me?

The questioner : You asked me in Ramadan, in the first third of it.

The Shaykh: All right.

The questioner : So you asked me if we affirm hurrah (running) as an attribute for Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He)? And I said: Yes, we affirm it as an attribute befitting His Majesty and the greatness of His power.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : And I wanted to speak with you, but some of the brothers kept me busy from completing the question.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : So I want to complete it now.

The Shaykh: Go ahead.

The questioner : I mentioned the issue to many of our shaykhs whose methodology we believe is correct and who follow the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Shaykh : (peace and blessings be upon him).

The questioner : So they told me something different from what you told me.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Based on the indication that: does the servant walk to Allah until Allah comes to him in a hurrah (running)?! As affirming the attribute, so I said: No, then he said: So how do we affirm the attribute?! And this is what the speech of the Arabs allows, and perhaps our Shaykh was mistaken in that, or he intended to exalt the Lord of Majesty, and he is excused for that, so what is your response to that, may Allah bless you?

The Shaykh : This question was asked of us today, my brother. I do not find any connection between the servant hurrahing (running) to his Lord or not hurrahing, and in fact he does not hurrah, but what is the connection between the servant not hurrahing when it is said
And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank, وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
[Al-Fajr 89:22]
.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : On the Day of Resurrection, did the creation come to Allah on the Day of Resurrection?

The questioner : The creation?

The Shaykh : Tell me.

The questioner : Yes?

The Shaykh
And your Lord came وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ
To where does your Lord come on the Day of Resurrection?

The questioner : I do not know, my Shaykh.

The Shaykh : You do not know, of course, and therefore you are asking a question greater than the jurisprudential reality you are living in. I see no difference for me between the servants on the Day of Resurrection when their Lord comes to them and when He manifests Himself to them. Do you know the hadith of the manifestation?

The questioner : Yes, the last third?

The Shaykh : No, on the Day of Resurrection, I tell you!

The questioner : Yes, yes, yes.

The Shaykh : When our Lord manifests Himself.

The questioner : Yes, yes.

The Shaykh : So He comes to them in a form they do not know, so they deny it, then He comes to them in another form they know. Do you remember this hadith? This is in al-Bukhari.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : The important thing is that when their Lord comes to them, it is not necessary that the servant comes, the servant hurrahs (runs), but in the hadith it does not mean he hurrahs, likewise when your Lord comes and the angels in rows, this does not mean that the created beings to whom their Lord comes and the angels also, they - also - come to their Lord. Perhaps you understood me?
The student : My brother, my Shaykh, my road here goes down, may Allah bless you.

The questioner : His brother, 'Abdullah Shahr, lives here!

The Shaykh : I do not know.

The questioner : Affirming the attribute for Allah (Mighty and Majestic)?

The Shaykh : As befits Him.

The questioner: Yes, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And what you quoted from them does not necessitate ta'wil (figurative interpretation), otherwise they would have opened a door for the mu'awwilin (those who interpret figuratively) that they have no capacity to close
And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank, وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
[Al-Fajr 89:22]
.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Meaning, did your Lord come to His servants on the Day of Resurrection, so did the servants come to their Lord, yes?!

The questioner : No, of course not.

The Shaykh : Yes, like this.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good, may Allah bless you.

The Shaykh : And you, and may He bless you.

The questioner : In Fath al-Bari.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : So we found that he mentioned from al-Bukhari in the same text
Everything will be destroyed except His Face كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُ
[Al-Qasas 28:88]
except His dominion!

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : How did it remain? Did he say the opposite of this yesterday?!

The questioner : He is as if he was mistaken, or he is aware of the place where this matter is mentioned.

The Shaykh : Yes, what does the commentator interpret?

The questioner : The commentator, my Shaykh, did not mention it. He said that in the narration of al-Nasafi, it seems to be from the words of Ma'mar, and this speech is also found in his book: al-Majaz, but in a narration:
Except He إلا هو
.

The Shaykh : Did he bring it from Tawhid?

The questioner : No, from Tafsir, my Shaykh.

The Shaykh : From Tafsir.

The questioner : Better to keep his wording.

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : Keeping his wording is better, meaning, here my Shaykh
Everything will be destroyed except His Face كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُ
[Al-Qasas 28:88]
.

The Shaykh : Give it to me, for the sake of Allah!!

The questioner : "Except His dominion."
