The Story of Thamud, the People of Salih (peace be upon him)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for [Al-Fajr 89:9]: they were also the same; they had arrogance, transgression, and defiance toward their Prophet, until they said to him: [Hud 11:62] We used to hope for you and think you were sensible, but now you are a fool. For no messenger was sent except that his people said to him: [Adh-Dhariyat 51:39] As Allah the Exalted said: [Adh-Dhariyat 51:52], so He gave them respite for three days, saying: [Hud 11:65]. When the three days were completed, and refuge is sought in Allah, the earth shook with them, and a cry was directed at them, so they became like the dry stalks of a ruined shelter, like the dry stalks of palm fronds; when time passes over them, they become dry and burnt by the sun and wind, so they became like the dry stalks of a ruined shelter, and they all died.
