Continuation of the explanation of the statement of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said
Strive to seek that which will benefit you احرص على ما ينفعك
Sunan Ibn Majah 4168Sahih (Darussalam)
This is a bequest from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to his Ummah, a comprehensive and sufficient bequest. “Strive for what benefits you” means to exert effort in acquiring it and engaging in it. The opposite of what benefits is what is harmful, and what has neither benefit nor harm.
This is because actions are divided into three categories: a category that benefits a person, a category that harms him, and a category that is vain, benefiting neither and harming neither. The rational person who accepts the bequest of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the one who strives for what benefits him. How many people today waste their time in things that are of no benefit, or even harmful to themselves and their religion. Therefore, we say to such people: You have not acted upon the bequest of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), either out of ignorance or negligence. But the rational, decisive believer is the one who accepts this advice and strives for what benefits him in his religion and his worldly life. And, if Allah wills, the rest of the discussion on the hadith will follow.
The reciter: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted “from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone, (but) cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don't say: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had ordained to do and your" if" opens the (gate) for the Satan.
Sahih Muslim 2664
