Explanation of the Hadith: "The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, and there is good in both. Strive for what benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not be helpless. If something befalls you, do not say, 'If I had done such and such, such and such would have happened,' but rather say, 'It is the decree of Allah, and what He willed happened.'"

The Shaykh : And he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4168Sahih (Darussalam) The strong believer, in what respect? In his faith, because "strong" is a description of the believer. So if it is a description of the believer, the meaning is that the one who is strong in his faith is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer. What is the benefit of his saying: So that, his saying: Sunan Ibn Majah 4168Sahih (Darussalam)

The Shaykh : But what is the benefit of this phrase? So that the status of the weak believer is not diminished. This is similar to the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Hadid 57:10] He said this so that the status of those whose spending was delayed is not diminished. And from that also is the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Anbya 21:78-79] He said: We knew that Solomon was correct in this case. And when it was feared that this would diminish the status of David, He said: [Al-Anbya 21:79] This is undoubtedly from the eloquence of the Qur'an and the Sunnah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4168Sahih (Darussalam) Then he said: Sunan Ibn Majah 4168Sahih (Darussalam) Great advices. Strive for what benefits you, in what respect? In religion or in this world?
The student: In religion and in this world.
The Shaykh : In religion and in this world. Strive for what benefits you in religion and in this world. Do not rely on yourself. If you rely on yourself, you delegate to it, and if you delegate to it, you delegate to weakness, defect, and incapacity. Sahih Muslim 2664 This means do not be lazy; be eager and be active, not helpless. And if something befalls you contrary to what you desire, do not say, "If I had done such and such, such and such would have happened," but rather say, "It is the decree of Allah," meaning this is the decree of Allah, and what He willed happened. So you do the cause, and when the outcome comes contrary to what you desire, you entrust the matter to Allah and say, "It is the decree of Allah, and what He willed happened." If faith that what befalls us is by the decree and destiny of Allah and that it is written obligates us to what? Tranquility.
