The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he quoted from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said

Allah the Exalted has excused a man whose lifespan was extended

أعذر الله تعالى إلى رجل أمد عمره

extended his lifespan to sixty years

أخّر أجله إلى ستين سنة

The meaning is that Allah (Mighty and Majestic), if He extends a person’s life until he reaches sixty years of age, has established the excuse against him; He has established the proof against him and removed the excuse from him.
