The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) stated, in what he quoted from 'Abd Allah ibn Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with him): that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon on his she-camel. And the prayers of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were of two types: a regular type and an occasional type.
So the regular sermons are: like the sermons of Friday, the sermons of the two festivals, the prayer for rain, the eclipse prayer, and what is similar to them.
And the occasional sermons are those that have a cause. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) would stand and deliver a sermon to the people, admonishing them and clarifying things for them. Sometimes he would deliver the sermon on the pulpit, sometimes he would deliver it standing on the ground, sometimes he would deliver it on his she-camel, and sometimes he would deliver it leaning on one of his Companions, according to what the situation required at that time. This is because it was part of the guidance of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that he did not make things difficult for himself; he did not seek what was not available, nor did he reject what was available, provided there was no negligence in the Shari'ah or transgression in it.
So he would deliver a sermon, and 'Abd Allah ibn Zam'ah heard it. Among the things he said in his sermon was:Sahih Ibn Hibban 16:164 : meaning he would beat her as one beats a person with whom he has no relationship, as if she were a captive slave who has suffered. And this is not fitting, because the relationship between a man and his family is a special relationship that should be built on love, affection, and distance from verbal or physical indecency. As for beating her as one beats a slave, and then lying with her at the end of the day—how can you lie with her at the end of the day and take pleasure in her with love, delight, and desire, when you have beaten her as one beats a slave?!
This is a contradiction. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) expressed disapproval of this action, and how such a thing could happen from a person. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke the truth, for this is not fitting for a person of sound mind, let alone a believer.
Then he also spoke about something else, which is their laughter at flatulence. Meaning, when a person passes wind from his rear, and it makes a sound, they laughed. He said: Why do you laugh? Why do you laugh?Sahih al-Bukhari 4942.
