The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he quoted from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and him), who said:Sunan Abi Dawud 4240Sahih (Al-Albani) It was the custom of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), indeed it was part of the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he would deliver sermons to his Companions, both regular sermons and occasional sermons. As for the regular sermons, they are like the Friday sermon, the festival sermon, the sermon for seeking rain, and the sermon for an eclipse. These are regular sermons; whenever their cause occurred, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would deliver them. On Friday, he would deliver two sermons before the prayer, and on the festival, one sermon after the prayer. Likewise, for seeking rain and for an eclipse, he would deliver one sermon after the prayer. As for the other sermons, the occasional ones, whenever their cause occurred, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand as a preacher and address the people. Among these is:
