The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, regarding what he quoted from Usamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 2740
The meaning is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informs that he has not left behind any trial more harmful to men than women. This is because people, as Allah the Exalted said:[Ali 'Imran 3:14] All of these are things that have been made attractive to people in this world, and they have become a cause of their trial in it. But the most severe of them are women. For this reason, Allah began with them, saying: [Ali 'Imran 3:14].
The Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) informing of this is intended to warn against the trial of women, and for people to be on guard against it. This is because a person is human, and if trials are presented to him, he is to be feared for them.
It is derived from this that every path that leads to the trial of women must be blocked. Every path that leads to the trial of women, it is obligatory for Muslims to block it. Therefore, it is obligatory for a woman to cover herself from non-mahram men, so she covers her face, and likewise she covers her hands and feet according to many scholars. It is also obligatory for her to avoid free mixing with men, because free mixing with men is a trial and a cause of evil from both sides, from the side of men and from the side of women.
For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 678Sahih (Al-Albani) And this is only for the sake of the woman’s distance from men; the further she is, the better and more excellent it is.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order women to go out to the festival prayer, but they did not mix with the men. Rather, they had a special place for them. In fact, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished his sermon to the men, he would go down and go to the women to admonish them and remind them. This indicates that the women were in a place separated from the men.
This is in an age of strength in religion and distance from lewd acts. What about our age? It is obligatory to avoid the trial of women by every means possible. It is not permissible for us to be deceived by what the people of evil, corruption, and imitators of the disbelievers call for, which is the call for women to mix with men. Indeed, that is from the inspiration of Satan, refuge is sought in Allah. It is He who makes it attractive in their hearts. Otherwise, there is no doubt that the nations that used to prioritize women and place them with men in a state of free mixing, there is no doubt that today they are in great calamities from this matter. They wish to be saved from it but cannot.
But, unfortunately, some of us, our sons, and our compatriots call for abandoning the noble morals and for bringing trials to our lands, in the expansion of women’s roles and in the attempt to employ them alongside men. So we ask Allah the Exalted to protect us and you from evil and trials. Indeed, He is Generous and Noble.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, regarding what he quoted from Usamah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have not left after me any (chance) of turmoil more injurious to men than the harm done to the men because of women.
ما تركتُ بعدي فتنة هي أضرَّ على الرجال من النساءThe meaning is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informs that he has not left behind any trial more harmful to men than women. This is because people, as Allah the Exalted said:
Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire - of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land
Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire - of women
زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ الشَّهَوَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاءِThe Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) informing of this is intended to warn against the trial of women, and for people to be on guard against it.
