The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in the remaining hadiths that righteousness is for a man to honor the friends of his father. The hadith of Jarir ibn Abdullah al-Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him) is that he was on a journey and he was serving his companions, who were from the Ansar. So it was said to him about that, meaning: How are you serving them when you are a companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?
He said: I saw that the Ansar did an action for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so I vowed that I would not be with them except by serving them, meaning: I swore an oath.
This is part of honoring those who honor the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Honoring a man’s companions is honoring the man, and respecting them is respecting him. For this reason, Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) considered honoring these people to be part of honoring the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
