Reading the statement of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he transmitted: "

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: He (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in the context of the verses in the chapter: "Remembrance of Death and the Shortness of Hope:
Allah the Exalted said:
And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die
[Luqman 31:34]
.
And He the Exalted said:
So when their time has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].
[Al-A'raf 7:34]
.
And Allah the Exalted said:
(9) O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from remembrance of Allah. And whoever does that - then those are the losers. (10) And spend [in the way of Allah] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." (11) But never will Allah delay a soul when its time has come. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
[Al-Munafiqun 63:9-11]
