The reader: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted, in the context of the hadiths, "In the chapter on anger when the sanctities of the Shari'ah are violated and in defending the religion of Allah the Exalted:Mishkat al-Masabih 746 Agreed upon".
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
This is the hadith that al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in *Riyad al-Salihin*, in the chapter on anger when the Shari'ah of Allah Mighty and Majestic is violated: That is: in the qiblah of the mosque, : meaning that if he is praying, he is conversing with Allah, meaning he is addressing Him, and Allah Mighty and Majestic responds to him. It has come in the authentic hadith: That when the servant says: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, Allah responds to him and says: My servant has praised Me. And when he says: The Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy, he says: My servant has praised Me. And when he says: Master of the Day of Judgment, he says: My servant has magnified Me. And when he says: You alone we worship and You alone we ask for help, he says: This is between Me and My servant, and My servant gets what he asked for. And when he says: Guide us to the straight path, he says: This is for My servant, and My servant gets what he asked for., so you are conversing with Allah Mighty and Majestic with His words, supplicating to Him Blessed and Exalted is He, glorifying Him, magnifying Him, and exalting Him. So He Blessed and Exalted is He is before you, between you and the qiblah. And even though Allah Blessed and Exalted is He is in the sky above His Throne, He is before you, because He encompasses everything: and [Ash-Shuraa 42:11].
Then, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the prohibition of spitting in front of the qiblah, meaning in front of a person's qiblah, he mentioned the permissible thing, because this is the guidance and this is the wisdom: that when you tell people what is prohibited, you tell them what is permissible, so that you do not close the doors on them. He commanded that a person should either spit to his left, or under his foot, or in his garment and rub one part of it against the other. Three things: either under his foot, where he spits and steps on it; or to his left, and this, along with the previous one, is difficult if the person is in the mosque, because it would defile it. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 723Sahih (Darussalam); or in his garment, where he spits in his garment and rubs one part of it against the other.
In this hadith is evidence that spittle is not ritually impure, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the praying person to spit under his foot or in his garment. If it had been ritually impure, he would not have permitted him to spit in his garment.
In it is teaching by action of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):.
In it is also the use of the word "saying" for the action:.
In it is also that there is no blame on a person for spitting in front of people, especially if it is for the sake of teaching.
In it is that it is a mark of good character that nothing be seen in your garment that people find disgusting, because he rubbed one part of it against the other so that its image would not remain in your garment. If people saw it, they would be disgusted by it and dislike it. So a person should be clean in his appearance, in his garments, and in things other than his garments, so that people are not disgusted by what they see of him. The point of this is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was affected, and his dislike was known on his face when he saw the spittle mark on the qiblah of the mosque. And success is from Allah.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted, in the context of the hadiths, "In the chapter on anger when the sanctities of the Shari'ah are violated and in defending the religion of Allah the Exalted:
Anas said that the Prophet saw some mucus in the direction of the qibla and his displeasure was apparent in his face, so he got up, scraped it with his hand and said, “When one of you gets up to pray, he is holding intimate converse only with his Lord, and his Lord is between him and the qibla , so none of you must spit in the direction of the qibla , but towards his left side, or under his foot.” Then he took the end of his cloak, spat in it, folded it up and said, “Or he may do thus.” Bukhari transmitted it.
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
