The Shaykh : And one should not swear by divorce; if there is a need, then by Allah, otherwise one should not swear, and success is from Allah.
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on honoring the guest, "from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6138 It is agreed upon. And from Khawaylid ibn 'Amr al-Khuzai'i (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Sahih Muslim 48b It is agreed upon. And in a narration by Muslim: Riyad as-Salihin 706 They said: O Messenger of Allah, how does he make it a sin? He said: Sahih Muslim 48c ".
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in the chapter on hospitality and honoring the guest, when he cited two verses from the Book of Allah, or verses in two places, the hadiths, which are from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2500Sahih (Darussalam) This is from the category of exhortation and encouragement to honor the guest, meaning that honoring the guest is a sign of faith in Allah and the Last Day and a completion of faith in Allah and the Last Day. This is because the one who honors his guest, Allah the Exalted will reward him for that on the Day of Resurrection, and perhaps He will reward him on the Day of Resurrection and in this world, as Allah the Exalted said: [Ash-Shuraa 42:20] So He rewards him in this world with replacement, He replaces it for him, and in the Hereafter with reward. For this reason he said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2500Sahih (Darussalam) And honoring the guest varies according to the circumstances of the guest. Some people are from the nobles and dignitaries of the people, so they are honored with what befits them. Some people are from the lowly of the people, so they are honored with what befits them. And some are in between. So the important thing is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) generalized honor, which includes all honor. Some people, when a guest comes to them, are not satisfied if you bring them food with two chickens or the like; they need you to bring them food with a slaughtered animal, and it is also part of honoring them that you invite your neighbors and the like. And some people are less than that. The important thing is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) did not restrict honor to anything, but generalized it, so it returns to what people consider honor. He said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6138 And in another hadith: Kin are the relatives, and the closer the relative is to you, the more obligatory his right is. So a person must maintain the ties of kinship. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) did not specify how to maintain them, so it also returns to custom. Some relatives are maintained through visitation and physical kindness. Some relatives are maintained by giving money, dirhams, for their need for that. Some relatives are honored with food and clothing, each according to his condition. The important thing is to honor your relatives with what is considered honor. For example, if your relative is rich and generous, you cannot send him a dish of food; rather, you honor him with visitation and gentle speech and the like. If your relative is poor, a sum of money is more beloved to him than anything else; you send him a sum of money. If your relative needs dirhams, yes, you send him a dish of food. If your relative needs money, you send him money, and so on. So every person is honored with what befits his condition. The third, he said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2500Sahih (Darussalam) And may we follow this in our lives. Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2500Sahih (Darussalam) Good in speech may be in the speech itself; good means the speech itself is good. And it may be in the intention behind it; the intention behind the speech is the good. For example, enjoining good and forbidding evil, and teaching an issue from the issues of knowledge and religion; the speech here is good in itself. And the other speech that is not good in itself in its nature, but you speak it in order to bring comfort to your gatherings and to open his chest, this is also good. Even if the speech itself is not something by which one draws near to Allah, but it is not a sin, and you intend by it to expand the chest of your companion and bring him comfort and joy, this is also from the good. And it is known from this that whoever does not speak good, his faith in Allah and the Last Day is deficient. So what about the one who speaks evil? What about the one who has become one who eats the flesh of people, may Allah protect us? And he goes about among them with talebearing, lies, and cheats. Rather, what about the one who has become one who incites against the people of knowledge? And he curses the people of knowledge and disparages them in a matter in which they are closer to the truth than what he claims or what he thinks. Then this is greater and greater, because speaking about the people of knowledge is not like speaking about the general people. Speaking about the general people may wound the man himself, but speaking about the people of knowledge is a wound to the scholars and a wound to what they carry of the Shari'ah. Because people will not trust them if the talk about them and the delving into their affairs becomes much. For this reason, when there is much talk and people delving into a matter, a person must strive to restrain his tongue and not speak. Even if he is asked, he says: We ask Allah for his guidance. We ask Allah to guide everyone. We ask Allah to make the good in reality. As for speaking and letting his tongue loose in matters that have no basis at all, this is from the lack of faith in Allah and the Last Day. It does not make a person a disbeliever, but his faith is deficient, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2500Sahih (Darussalam) And as it was said: "If speech is of silver, then silence is of gold" And it was also said in wisdom: "Silence is wisdom, and few are its doers" And it was also said: "Whoever is silent is safe, and whoever speaks is in danger" So for this reason, adhere to silence except in something you see to be good, for good is sought. And success is from Allah.
