Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
When there are many beggars, is the one being asked required to verify?
Answer:
He should start with the most important, then the next most important, and the most needy, then the next most needy. He should verify in matters, because some people ask while they have money. Some people are greedy for money, even if they are wealthy. So the giver should verify when a person asks him, so that he is on clear knowledge.
Q: And if it becomes apparent to him that he is lying, or that he did something and is not truthful, what is he required to do?
A: He does not give to him, and he gives to the others. Two men came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asking him, and he saw that they were strong, so he said:Sunan Abi Dawud 1633Sahih (Al-Albani) meaning: zakah.
Q: Did one of the brothers hold a child in the Makkah Haram begging, and he was holding his hand as if it were broken, but when he held it, it appeared that it was not broken?
A: Some of them resort to trickery and lie, and the sin is upon them.
Q: But what is the one who held this child required to do?
A: He is required to advise him and teach him that this is not permissible.
Q: Even if he said: I advised him and he returned to it?
A: Even if, he teaches him, or he refers the matter to the men of the mosque’s hisbah (enforcement of public order).
