Is the congregational prayer obligatory for a traveler if he hears the call to prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a man is traveling and hears the call to prayer, does he pray with the congregation?

Answer:
If it is easy, there is no harm; otherwise, if he fears for his companions or fears missing something, he travels, prays, and continues his journey.
Q: If he misses the congregational prayer and returns home, does he pray it shortened?
The Shaykh: If he is traveling, he prays it shortened, two rak'ahs, for the midday, afternoon, and night prayers. And if he prays with people who are praying four rak'ahs, he prays four.
Q: Is the congregational prayer obligatory for him if he does not hear the call to prayer?
The Shaykh: If he is alone, yes, it is obligatory. But if they are a group, they have a choice: if they wish, they pray alone shortened, and if they wish, they attend with the congregation and pray four.
