Does the reward for charity and knowledge cease when the cause is cut off?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Regarding ongoing charity, does it cease when the cause is cut off, such as the water running out of a well? And likewise, does knowledge that people benefit from cease when the cause is cut off?

Answer:
As long as people benefit from it, the reward remains, and if it is cut off, the reward ceases.
Q: What establishes the reward?
The Shaykh: It ceases when the cause is cut off.
Q: The hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in which he said:
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: A continuous charity, knowledge by which people derive benefitإذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث: صدقة جارية أو علم ينتفع به
Riyad as-Salihin 949
Is ongoing charity and knowledge that people benefit from the same, or is there a difference between them?
The Shaykh: Allah knows best. It has its reward, and that is all. It has its reward with Allah.
